Qualifying For Ultimates! (2013)

The Ultimate Tournaments are invite only events. In order to obtain an invitation to the tournaments, you must prove your worth by performing well in local Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000 and Warmachine/Hordes tournaments in WA. By doing this, you can be certain that you have truly earned your place amongst the contenders and will be in for a tough battle as the best hobbyists in the state compete for the Ultimate championship!

There are 16 places available at Ultimate Warhammer 40,000 / Ultimate Warmachine and 12 places available at Ultimate Warhammer. Successful qualifiers will need to meet the following criteria:

Ultimate Tournament Invites #1 - #14 (or #1 - #10 in the case of Ultimate Warhammer)
- Previous year overall winner.
- The top position holders as at 25th Sept 2013 on the WestGamer Tournament League standard ladder (for Ultimate Warhammer & Ultimate Warhammer 40,000)*, counting back until invites are filled - OR;
- The top position holders as at 25th Sept 2013 on the WestGamer Tournament League general's ladder (for Ultimate Warmachine)*, counting back until invites are filled.

* Note that a mid-month league ladder update will be posted (rather than waiting until the 1st of the following month as per standard process) for the purpose of determining Ultimate Tournament qualifiers.

Should a player decline an invitation, the invite will move to the next player in line to qualify. Likewise, if a player cannot attend the Ultimate Tournament for whatever reason, their invite will be offered to the next in line as well. If a player qualifies for an invite at multiple Ultimate tournaments, then they may only select one of these to accept.

The Ultimate Tournament Judges reserve the right to exclude any event from qualification if we believe that it does not meet suitable requirements for the tournaments.

The "Good Sportsman" clause.
Any invitation to the Ultimate Tournaments may be withdrawn if at any events a player attends during the year they are reported to be a poor sportsman. The Judging panel will examine each case on its own merits to determine whether to exclude invitation or not, speaking to the player involved and where possible that event's organisers and other competitors. If a player is deemed to be unsuitable for an invite under this clause, then the judges decision will be final and no further discussion will be entered into on the matter. Non-qualification in this manner will not be made public, and will not be commented upon by the Judges to any 3rd party.
Of course we will only exclude someone if evidence of poor sportsmanship is clear, and if we believe that it will put the enjoyment of other players at risk. Players that are excluded from an invite in this manner are certainly welcome to attempt to qualify again at a future event.

Ultimate Tournament "WildCard" Entries
- WildCard entries to be issued to two hobbyists (per game system event) selected by the judging panel, who we believe to be worthy of representation at the Ultimate Tournament due to accomplishments over the past year. This could be due to just barely missing out on a placing at an event, accomplishments at an event outside of WA, personalities of renown or notoriety, or contributions to the hobby community in general. Nominations will be accepted from the public during the year for WildCards, but the Judges will make the final decision as to the place getters. Suffice to say that reasons for each WildCard invitation will be made available to the public.

Nominations for Wildcards to the 2013 Ultimate Tournaments will open on the 1st September, and continue through until the 15th September. The successful nominees will then be notified of their Wildcard invite within 2 weeks. Should a Wildcard invite be declined, the judges may vote for an additional Wildcard player out of the nominations received, or simply offer the invite to the next player in line on the relevant League ladder at their discretion.

Obviously, any member of the current year's judging panel will be ineligible for entry.

Interstate & International Competitors.
There are 2 ways that interstate & international players may gain entry to the Ultimate Tournaments.
- By travelling to Western Australia during the year and playing at enough events to be positioned highly on one of the WestGamer Tournament League ladders, or;
- By being nominated & receiving one of the "WildCard" invitations.

So in summary - get your army ready, get out there and play in some events! Only the best will qualify for the Ultimate Tournaments, but you will have several opportunities throughout the year to prove that you are worthy of an invite. Play hard and we'll see you there!
